For more than 25 years my mission has been to bring technology to the finance world. With Modularbank, we make banking seamless by enabling every company to offer financial services in a matter of weeks. The timing for my career in fintech couldn’t have been any better: After I graduated in Applied Mathematics in 1985, I worked in programming for the first few years of my career. In 1992, just one year after Estonia gained independence, I joined Hansabank, a start up formed by four economics graduates who wanted to modernise banking. With no initial capital or experience in commercial banking, out of both necessity and ingenuity, we built a bank that was digital from the very beginning. As early as 1993, Hansabank was offering PC banking to business customers. While Hansabank was on the way to become the largest bank in the Baltic States, I was responsible for managing the IT Development Division with 150 employees. Eventually, Hansabank was bought by Swedbank.
