About Roland Emmans

Roland Emmans has spent his career helping tech firms solve the growth financing conundrum. He loves translating what Tech & Telco firms do into language that banks can understand, with a mission to understand as many tech businesses as possible and help them grow. Roland Emmans believes that banking is more than just offering debt; it’s about sharing expertise, ideas, contacts, and innovative finance solutions to help the shareholder and company achieve their objectives. Roland Emmans is determined to help HSBC grow its presence in the tech space, focusing on the banking needs of mid and large-sized firms within the Technology & Telecoms sectors. With the privilege of working with over 150 tech firms per year, he has gained deep insights into the sector’s unique challenges and opportunities. Before joining HSBC, he was RBS’s UK Tech Sector leader for two years and led RBS’s South Technology Team for four years. He previously spent eleven years in the City of London, mainly working on European leveraged finance transactions. Roland Emmans has over 20 years of banking experience, covering corporate banking, treasury, cash management, leveraged finance, and investment banking (DCM & ECM). Sponsored by NatWest through university, Roland Emmans graduated with a first-class degree in Banking and Finance. Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, all things car-related, running after his children, and serves as a rugby coach and powerboat instructor in his free time. Three things he knows about himself: He is intensely curious and wants to understand how businesses tick. He is a lifelong student, constantly seeking knowledge and wisdom to become a better professional and help others. He is pursuing a higher purpose, striving to improve both himself and the lives of others, with the goal of helping businesses succeed. Roland Emmans  is aware he is very lucky to get to meet more than 200 innovative tech firms per year, getting to hear the inside story, giving him a big network and broad perspective on the sector.
