About Richard W. Viola

I serve as the deputy managing partner of McGuireWoods’ corporate practice, leading administration of our corporate departments, overseeing lateral hiring and integration, and supporting our attorneys in their client development activities. During my tenure as an industry team co-leader, the firm earned national recognition for its representation of financial institutions. Law360 named McGuireWoods a “Banking Practice Group of the Year” and U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” recognized it as “Law Firm of the Year” for banking and finance law. In my practice, I have focused on representing public and private companies in securities transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. While my primary experience has been leading corporate finance transactions, I also regularly partner with financial institutions and other public company issuers in connection with liability management transactions, including tender offers, consent solicitations, redemptions, repurchases and exchanges.
