About Peter Bakenecker

Peter Bakenecker is Mastercard’s Division President for Central Europe Division. Since joining in 2006 Peter held various management positions, including Head of Product, Business Development as well as Digital Payments for Europe. For many years he was part of the Mastercard Advisors’ management team for Europe, AP and MEA, where he had the opportunity to design and build payments technology solutions in various geographies for different industries. Before joining Mastercard, Peter was with Batten & Company as well as Roland Berger Strategy Consultants as part of their financial services practices. Peter holds an MBA in Banking & Finance from the University of Essen/Duisburg and the University of Technology in Sydney. He completed executive programs at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Peter, his wife and two sons live in Munich. He is passionate on traveling and exploring new parts of the world together with his family.  Peter Bakenecker brings experience from previous roles at Mastercard and MasterCard Worldwide. Peter Bakenecker holds a London School of Economics and Political Science. With a robust skill set that includes New Business Development, Business Development, Marketing Strategy, Financial Services, Payments and more.  He is responsible for strategy and leads Mastercard's operations in Germany, Greece, Malta, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Cyprus. Since joining Mastercard in 2006, Peter Bakenecker has held various management positions, including Head of Product, Business Development and Digital Payments for Europe. For many years he was part of the management team of Mastercard Advisors for Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. In this role, he developed and built technological solutions for payments for various regions and different industries. Before that, he was Division President for Germany and Switzerland. Before joining Mastercard, he worked in financial services at Batten & Company and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
