With a successful track record of achieving diverse and challenging goals over a 15-year career, Orlando Merone has been appointed general manager of Conio, Italy's first wallet for bitcoin and digital asset custody, backed by Poste Italiane and Banca Generali. In this new role, he will work closely with co-founder and CEO Christian Miccoli, a pioneer of online banking in Italy, to guide Conio through a crucial phase of consolidation and growth.
Orlando Merone was born in 1981 and holds an Executive MBA from the University of Pavia. Since early 2021 he has successfully launched and led Bitpanda, the European digital investment platform, in the Italian market. He has achieved significant recognition in the Italian market, both in the retail and B2B sectors.
Previously, he led the business development and partnerships in Italy and Southern Europe of Revolut, the financial super app with over 28 million customers worldwide. Orlando successfully launched Revolut's services in several countries in the region and I played a key role in acquiring the first 600,000 users in Italy and the first 2.5 million in Southern Europe. In 2018, he assisted in the establishment of USDC within Circle, a Boston-based company that issues the second largest stablecoin in the world by capitalization.
