Nikolaus Giesbert, Head of Institutionals/Transaction Banking, will leave Commerzbank at the end of 2022. Giesbert began his career in 1987 at Dresdner Bank in the trading department in Frankfurt and New York, where he was responsible for primary and secondary Eurobond trading until 1996. After several interim positions, he joined Commerzbank in various management positions from 2000 to 2002 and continued his career in the following years at Morgan Stanley as European head of Financial Institutions. In 2010, he returned to Commerzbank as Divisional Head of Fixed Income & Currencies Sales, where he was also jointly responsible for Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) trading from 2013 until the end of 2018. In 2017, he also took over the Trade Finance & Cash Management division until he was given responsibility for the newly created Institutional Clients division in mid-2019. The Transaction Banking division was added in 2021. In his last two positions, Nikolaus Giesbert set the course for the merger of the Institutional and Transaction Banking divisions. Giesbert also holds numerous mandates on administrative or supervisory boards, including at the Commerzbank subsidiary Neosfer or, most recently, until mid-2022, at Eurex Clearing in Eschborn, as Chairman of the Board of the German Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) Group or on the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank Eurasija SAO in Moscow until 2016.
