Michelle Neal joined RBC Capital Markets in June 2019 from BNY Mellon where she served as the CEO of Markets. At RBC Capital Markets, she has operating responsibility US Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities (FICC). Michelle Neal is also responsible for Global Senior Relationship Management for RBC, executing a transformation of the unit's talent and focus. In addition to her functional roles around US FICC and Global Clients, she sponsor's FICC's digital strategy and recently formed the Alternative & Private Capital Solutions unit, focused sourcing and placing private debt and alternative investments.
During her tenure at BNY Mellon, Michelle Neal became President, Markets in 2015 and CEO in 2017. She served on the BNYMellon Executive Committee having had operating responsibility for the firm's global Markets businesses including Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Equities, Securities Finance, Collateral Management, Segregation and Liquidity Services.
An executive with a successful track record of building, transforming and running global, capital markets businesses, sustainable at scale she is focused on talent and execution with extensive operating and front-to-back domain expertise.
Michelle Neal is a recognized industry leader in electronic trading, market structure and fintech orientated strategic investments, serving as a non-executive board director in leading market infrastructure companies and trade bodies for the financial services industry including the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee (TBAC), TradeWeb, LCH Swapclear, IHS Markit, MTS Spa, Liquidity Hub, Futures Industry Association (FIA) and the BNYMellon Government Securities Clearing Corp. Currently, she serves as Board member of Global Financial Markets Association "GFMA" and RBC Capital Markets LLC. She is also a member of RBC's Global Markets Operating Committee, U.S. Operating Committee, Wholesale and US ALCO and RBC's Pension Investment Subcommittee.
In 2017 and 2018, Michelle Neal was recognized as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance by American Banker. In 2013 and 2014, Ms. Neal was named by Financial News as one of the 100 most influential women in European banking. In 2010 and 2011, she was named by Financial News as one of 40 under 40 Rising Stars in European Financial Markets.
In December 2020, She was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the New York Hall of Science or NYSCI.
Michelle Neal holds a BSBA in Finance from the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University, cum laude.
Michelle Neal holds dual US and British citizenship and holds Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses.
