About Michael Summersgill

Michael Summersgill, Having spent his early career working in accountancy firms, Michael moved to AJ Bell in 2007 and quickly progressed to the position of Group Financial Controller. In 2011, Michael was promoted to the Board of Directors to take on the position of Chief Financial Officer. His remit was initially limited to Finance, but over the years has increased and now also includes responsibility for all operational aspects of the business. His key achievements to date at AJ Bell include: leading the IPO that saw the business list on the LSE main market; running the project that saw the business relocate to a new HQ in Manchester; the successful relocation of the group’s stockbroking operation; and implementing the HR strategy that saw the company enter the Sunday Times list of the Best 100 Companies to Work For in the UK. Previously, he worked as a Director at Indexx Markets Ltd. Michael Summersgill is responsible for a range of operational and support functions in the business, overseeing Finance, HR, the group’s stockbroking operation and key control functions within the SIPP administration business. Michael graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Economics and began his career as an accountant in public practice, gaining experience with a broad portfolio of clients.
