About Mayank Somaiya

Mayank Somaiya is passionate about the role emerging technologies play in revolutionizing payments and banking and how partnerships and ventures can unlock their full potential. With over 15 years of experience in the payments and fintech industry, he has led the development and management of best-in-class fintech partnerships, incubated new opportunities, and driven innovation and strategy initiatives across global markets and organizations. As the Global Head of Ecosystem Partnerships at Backbase, he is responsible for the global P&L for Ecosystem Partnerships, enabling financial institutions to leverage industry-leading fintech capabilities. Previously, he held senior positions at Visa, leading fintech partnerships, venture investments, and innovation programs. Since 2021, Mayank Somaiya  has served as an Expert-in-Residence at Imperial Enterprise Lab, where he shares his knowledge and experience with the next generation of fintech leaders. In this role, he mentors and supports aspiring fintech entrepreneurs and innovators, helping them navigate the complex world of fintech. His academic background includes a Master’s in Strategy and Innovation from Oxford University and executive programs in venture capital, innovation, and entrepreneurship from Stanford University.
