About Martin Chee

My journey so far has allowed me to live and work in Japan, China and Singapore and has given me a wealth of experience upon which to draw.

The journey took an interesting turn with my recent appointment to lead IBM Singapore as its Managing Director. Singapore is home and I couldn’t be more excited to work with a highly talented team who are at the core of driving digital transformation for our clients. I’m looking forward to continuing the work of supporting Singapore’s vision to be a global hub for business, innovation and talent.

Transformation and re-invention is what I have lived by all through my professional career. Having started my career as a UK and Singapore qualified Intellectual Property lawyer, I took the bold step of moving into the information technology arena at a time when IT was not as far reaching or as deeply embedded in our personal and daily lives.

I’ve spent the last 20 years in IBM and have grown with a company which has in this period transformed from a hardware centric business, into a business solutions provider that is a market leader in the field of cloud, cognitive and analytics solutions. It’s truly exciting to be at the forefront of technological changes and to be involved in helping clients deploy solutions which support their digital business transformation so that they in turn can drive meaningful outcomes for their clients.

Work and life is about relationships and an integral part of my belief is that I have a responsibility for contributing positively to the lives of as many of the people around me – even in small ways. I enjoy building and leading diverse teams across various territories and the opportunity it gives me to engage and develop the talent of the individuals in the teams.
