I’m an entrepreneur turned investor and currently a GP at Notion Capital, a venture capital firm focused on B2B SaaS/Cloud.
Before Notion I co-founded, built and exited three businesses with my brother Ben – RBR Networks, Star and MessageLabs. Star was one of the UK’s first ISP’s and was acquired by Claranet for $88m. MessageLabs, founded in 2000, was the first company in the world to deliver anti-virus and anti-spam in the cloud and apply a more data driven, predictive approach to identifying malware. In 2008 MessageLabs was acquired by Symantec for $700m, a landmark transaction in the emerging software-as-a service (so called ‘SaaS’) sector.
In 2009, I co-founded Notion with three other partners to invest in the B2B SaaS/Cloud market across Europe. We feel that our experience of scaling a large, global SaaS business gives us an ‘unfair advantage’ for evaluating deals and supporting our portfolio companies. Notion now has more than $500m in funds under management and an exciting portfolio of more than companies.
I’m also an angel investor mainly into New York start-ups where I lived for 14 years - investments include Bench, Gamechanger (sold to Dicks Sporting Goods), Justworks, Splash, The Book of Everyone, Tripplemint, Tyme and Tylko.
I now live in London with my beautiful wife, Annabel, and my wonderful three children Freddie, Ophelia and Sammy. When I’m not working I love running, reading, golf and cooking. But most of all I love to spend time with my family and to see my kids with a smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye.
