About John Durrant

John Durrant, As the son of entrepreneurs, he has a passion for building things—improving on what works and experimenting with change—something he gets to do every day in his role leading FIS’ Banking Solutions business. FIS is a leading provider of technology solutions for merchants, banks, and capital markets firms globally. Technology is driving more transformation than ever in the industry. He is excited to work with a highly talented team to help clients drive business growth by delivering innovative solutions to their customers. Prior to FIS, he led the integrated customer strategy, products (financial and digital), marketing, and operations teams for consumer and small business banking at Capital One. In this role, he helped create a one-of-a-kind banking model that leverages the best of both traditional retail banking and direct banking models. He firmly believes that creating a sustainable competitive advantage starts with attracting great talent and creating an environment that enables them to take risks and reach their maximum potential. He feels fortunate to be a part of the transformation going on in banking, but what has been and will remain the most fulfilling part of his work is the opportunity to work with and learn from amazingly talented individuals from so many different backgrounds, with so many different perspectives. These solutions and services are centered across the full client experience, allowing clients to borrow, save, pay and invest, while helping wealth and retirement providers to acquire, manage and grow assets around the world. Before joining FIS in 2022, John Durrant spent his career working in the banking industry at four of the ten largest FI’s in the U.S. John Durrant has previously held board positions at the Management Committee of Early Warning Services (EWS), The Clearing House’s Payco, and the Boards of the Consumer Bankers Association where he served as Chair Elect. He also serves as Chair Elect on the board at Junior Achievement of Greater Washington. John Durrant holds a bachelor’s from Stetson University and an executive MBA from Duke University, and is also a graduate of Stanford University’s D-School of Design Thinking.
