Jimmy Ng is Group Head of Operations and Regional Technology and Operationsat DBS Bank.
Jimmy manages Operations across the Group, which includes Consumer Banking Group Operations (CBGO) & Customer Contact Centre (CCTR), Institutional Banking Group Operations (IBGO) & International Centres (ICs), Treasury & Markets Operations (TMO) as well as the Group Operations COO. As the architect of the multi-year Operations Processes and Platform Re-engineering (OPPR) programme, his leadership has resulted in an enhancement of employee productivity, yielding over a million hours of increased efficiency since 2021.
In addition to the Operations group, Jimmy Ng also oversees all the regional T&O teams outside Singapore, with the exception of our technology hubs in India and China.
Prior to this, Jimmy Ng was Head of Group Technology & Operations at DBS, where he pioneered the GenAI initiatives in DBS, drawing upon the foundation of the bank's data transformation journey and self-service data platform. Jimmy also set up the second technology hub outside of Singapore, in Guangzhou, China. His leadership spearheaded the successful technology and operations integrations of Citigroup Inc.’s consumer banking business with DBS Taiwan in 2023, as well as the integration of Lakshmi Vilas Bank in 2022.
Jimmy Ng was Deputy Head of Group Technology & Operations, where he was responsible for running the bank’s first technology development centre outside Singapore, DBS Asia Hub 2 in Hyderabad and was also the Head of DBS’ Middle Office Technology and oversaw Country Tech. Jimmy Ng was instrumental in setting up the Enterprise Architecture/Site Reliability Engineering unit.
During his tenure with DBS, Jimmy Ng has also worked in Consumer Banking Operations where he helped overhaul the ATM/SSB management as well as the use of data analytics to turn around the challenges of the ATM/SSB performance. While his Head of Group Audit role saw him reimagine the Audit function with his Future of Auditing initiative, using state of the art data analytics and machine learning techniques in the implementation of new auditing approaches such as Continuous Auditing, Predictive Auditing and Agile Auditing. Under his leadership, the Audit group won a host of external accolades including two awards from Institute of Engineering Singapore (IES) for Prestigious Engineering Achievement in Singapore and ASEAN. He also sits on the Accounting Advisory Board of the NUS Business School.
Prior to his career in DBS, Jimmy spent 13 years with ABN Amro, working across a broad range of functions, including Middle Office, Operations, Risk Advisory Services and Product Control, as well as geographically in Singapore, London and Amsterdam. Jimmy Ng joined ABN Amro from JPMorgan and started his career with Singtel.
Jimmy Ng has a BSc degree in Information Systems from National University of Singapore and a Masters in Business Administration from Nanyang Technological University.
