Honson To | Chairman KPMG Asia Pacific and KPMG China | Fintech Finance
Honson To is the chairman of KPMG Asia Pacific and KPMG China. He also serves as a member of KPMG’s Global Board, Global Executive Committee and Global Investment Committee. He was elected chairman for the KPMG China firm in 2015. In 2017, he also became the chairman of KPMG's Asia Pacific region. Asia Pacific is one of the three major geographic regions in the KPMG network, with over 46,000 employees in 20 countries providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services. KPMG China is an integral part of the Asia Pacific region as well as KPMG’s global network. Honson began his career with KPMG in Canada in 1990 where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator. He joined KPMG’s Hong Kong office in 1997 before moving to the Shanghai office in 2001, and later to the Beijing office in 2010. Honson has extensive experience serving inbound and outbound clients in the local and international markets and been responsible for advising on some of the largest cross-border transactions involving the China market. He has also led KPMG’s efforts in advising Chinese clients on their SOE reform initiatives as well as banking clients in dealing with non-performing loans in China. As the chairman of KPMG Asia Pacific and KPMG China, it is a priority for him to ensure the well-being of the firm’s people and foster an environment where they can develop their talents. He is dedicated to encouraging people in the firm to connect with and live by the KPMG Values – Integrity, Excellence, Courage, Together and For Better – and lead by example. Honson is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, Canada and a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.
