Haseeb Qureshi began playing online poker at the age of 16 with $50 and, a year later, turned it into over $100,000. By the age of 19, he had become one of the strongest heads-up no-limit Hold'em players in the world, a sponsored poker pro, and a self-made millionaire. He quickly learned that money does not produce happiness and permanently retired from poker at 21, never playing a hand since.
At 23, Haseeb wrote a best-selling poker book about the philosophy of poker and gave away all of the money he'd saved up as a poker player, about half a million dollars, starting over with $10K. By 25, he decided to earn-to-give, pursuing a lucrative career to donate more to charity. Interested in technology and software engineering, he moved to San Francisco and joined a top 12-week coding bootcamp. Eight weeks into the bootcamp, they asked him to help teach it, and later, he became Director of Product.
About a year later, Haseeb Qureshi got a job as a software engineer at Airbnb, where he worked on payments fraud. A year after that, he left to pursue opportunities in blockchain technology, becoming an investor at Dragonfly Capital. He continues to write, invest, and code, while donating a third of his pre-tax income to charity.
In his personal life, Haseeb follows a paleo diet, drinks only water, adores stand-up comedy, trains in CrossFit, and has given up on meditating every day. He only belongs to clubs that would have someone like him for a member, which he humorously notes is very few.
