Graeme Munro is Managing Director and Chief Controls Manager for the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) at J.P. Morgan, where he manages a global team of 1,200 controls professionals that lead and execute on strategic controls initiatives and provide first line of defense governance for all businesses in the CIB.
Prior to managing Controls for the CIB at J.P. Morgan, Graeme was the Global Head of Payments Operations, supporting cash payments, cash management, trade finance, liquidity, and merchant services products.
Prior to leading Payments Operations, Graeme Munro was the Global Head of Derivatives Operations at J.P. Morgan, which oversaw the confirmation, settlement, and collateralization of J.P. Morgan’s Derivatives and FX franchise. During this period, Graeme represented J.P. Morgan on several industry bodies, including the Federal Reserve Bank’s Foreign Exchange Operations Manager working group, the Bank of England’s Joint Standing Committee Operations workgroup, and the Association of Financial Markets Europe Technology and Operations Board.
In addition to senior leadership roles supporting specific product areas, Graeme also has experience in building technology applications and technology infrastructure management during his 30 plus year career at the firm, as well as significant international leadership experience from five assignments within J.P. Morgan’s global network. Graeme Munro graduated from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, with an Honors Degree in Statistics and then joined J.P. Morgan as part of the Technology Graduate Program.
Graeme Munro is a passionate supporter of the people and culture programs at J.P. Morgan with senior responsibility to drive and promote the diversity, inclusion, and equity agenda. He sits on the Women on the Move and the Junior Talent steering committees.
Graeme Munro has experience of managing at scale in a diverse, multi- cultural, international environment, with responsibility for both day to day running and long term strategy and transformational capabilities. Additionally, he has extensive experience contributing to and chairing multi discipline, multi perspective industry bodies. Graeme Munro was recently elected to the board at SWIFT.
