About Garry Ceaplen

Garry Ceaplen, Having worked for over 30 years (20 within the Middle East) in cards, Garry Ceaplen has built up extensive experience of the technical, operational, regulatory, and business aspects, and is fortunate to enjoy a unique understanding of the cards industry. In the course of Garry Ceaplen is career, he has had the exceptional opportunity to build, run, and revamp new and emerging card businesses, plus provide guidance and expertise to ‘Card Issuers’ during his time working for Visa and American Express. Equally, he has also been privileged to launch and manage an acquiring business, worked on in-house or outsourced platforms (AFS, FDI, and Network International), plus worked closely with several Central Banks and national switches. Garry Ceaplen believes his strengths are in his depth and breadth of knowledge, the unique experiences, and his passion for the cards business. His key skills include operations, technical knowledge, product and portfolio management, relationship management (internal and external), sales, credit and collections, and business development. In his current role as ‘Cards Head’, Garry Ceaplen oversees every aspect of the cards business and has full management of the associated P&L. In the past 3 years, he has reenergized the bank's card business through the implementation of a portfolio optimization and operational excellence program, which allowed them to grow market share and improve profitability. Garry Ceaplen is other qualities include strong relationship and interpersonal skills, great imagination and creativity, excellent team leader and player, enjoys teaching and learning, and focused on delivery. Garry Ceaplen, based in Bahrain, is currently a Managing Director - Business Innovation, Hightech Payment Systems at HPS. He brings experience from previous roles at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, International Bank of Qatar, American Express and Ahli United Bank. He holds a 1982 - 1986 Patchem Fawcett.
