Ed Halsey began his career as a Property Underwriter, endlessly plugging data into systems, struggling to access the information he needed, and battling technology just to get anything done. Apologies if this triggers any underwriters out there.
He has always been looking for ways to work smarter. He would experiment with shortcuts, hunt for third-party tools, and explore every button to find a better way. But it soon hit him—many of his peers were stuck, buried under paperwork and overwhelmed, without the same curiosity for tech he had since his early days (MS-DOS nerd alert).
That’s when he realized he could make a difference. Ed Halsey knew he could help them find the same tools, tactics, and strategies that were helping him do more, faster.
Since then, Ed Halsey has been fascinated by the intersection of insurance and technology. From his early days in the industry, it became clear that the right software doesn’t just drive innovation and efficiency—it makes work a little more enjoyable (and "enjoyable" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there!).
Whether he was selling insurance software at DXC, deploying robotic process automation at Automation Anywhere, or streamlining insurance buying at Taveo, his focus has always been the same: getting people the right tools for the job.
Now, Ed Halsey has one such tool: Genasys’s feature-rich policy administration system. His job? To spread the word about how they’ve accelerated MGAs' speed-to-market, connected insurers with a vast range of third-party services and tools, and transformed brokers' operations with customizable, frictionless workflows. The result? Supercharged productivity and efficiency across the board.
Ed Halsey is the Vice President of Marketing at Genasys Technologies. With a career spanning two decades, he started as a commercial insurance underwriter at major firms like AXA, Aviva, and Allianz. Ed Halsey transitioned into leadership roles in software sales and marketing, focusing on the psychological aspects of consumer decision-making.
He has been instrumental in merging innovation with insurance, particularly through his technology consultancy, Evermore Digital. There, he led a web series educating brokers and insurers about insurtech, AI, and automation. This theoretical expertise was later applied practically as the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Taveo, previously known as Hubb.
At Genasys, Ed Halsey continues his journey as an ‘insurtech evangelist,’ aiming to simplify and enhance the insurance experience for insurers, managing general agents (MGAs), brokers, and their customers. He works under Gavin Peters, the Chief Marketing Officer, contributing to the global marketing strategy and implementation.
Prior Ed Halsey had a COO and Co-Founder of hubb, a challenger broker who are offering commercial clients a unique usage-based broking model. He is a former insurance underwriter, technology salesperson and InsurTech Thought Leader.
Ed Halsey also hosts several digital TV shows, under his Evermore Digital guise, focussed on innovation within the sector.
