About Dr Henry Balani

Dr Henry Balani is a seasoned industry Executive and Academic with Board level expertise in maturing high-growth regulatory technology firms towards successful exits and educating the next generation of international business leaders. As an Executive, his journey has been marked by significant contributions at the board and operations levels, focusing on driving strategic initiatives in financial crime compliance, including anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), and customer due diligence (CDD). Henry Balani currently leads Encompass' Industry & Regulatory Affairs to identify trends and influence policy in financial crime compliance where he advocates for Encompass' position with Regulators and Industry leaders. As an Academic, he shapes aspiring executives, managers and students into successful international business leaders teaching formal graduate and undergraduate courses, sharing his industry experience in management, finance, economics, marketing and business strategy. Henry Balani leverages his industry contacts and knowledge to support students in successful job placements. Prior to their work at Encompass, Dr Balani was an Adjunct Professor of Business at Northern Illinois University starting in 2018. Dr Henry also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where they taught a program on financial integrity and banking compliance. In 2018, Dr Balani worked as a Principal at Blockchain Advisory Institute and was responsible for providing strategic advice. From 2007 to 2018, they held various roles at Accuity & Fircosoft, including Global Head of Strategic Affairs, Head of Innovation, and Managing Director Compliance Risk Solutions. Dr Henry Balani contributed to the growth and success of the company, establishing innovation practices, driving thought leadership, and accelerating product solution development. Before that, Dr Balani worked as the Director of Professional Services at Pegasystems from 2004 to 2007, where they led project teams in software re-engineering projects. Dr Henry also held managerial positions at 2BInformed, IBM, System Software Associates (now part of Infor), and InfoSys earlier in their career. Henry Balani is passionate about Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorist Financing, Know Your Customer, Artificial Intelligence, Payments, Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital assets issues, and has been honored to lecture at multiple industry and academic conferences including the United Nations and top-tier universities around the world.
