As Chief Executive of Scottish Widows and the Group Director for the Insurance & Wealth division at Lloyds Banking Group, Antonio Lorenzo works alongside their dedicated teams across the UK to support over 10 million customers with customer investments and assets supporting their annuities business of over £250 billion. Their business is one of the largest Insurers in the UK.
They have a strong heritage, helping their customers every day with their life insurance, pensions, investments, general insurance and private banking needs. They do this through several iconic brands including Scottish Widows, Schroders Personal Wealth, Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Bank. Lloyds Banking Group is also unique in the UK as the only integrated banking, insurance and investment provider. Together they serve over 27 million individuals, families and businesses every day through their leading banking apps and branch network. Today their digital customers engage with their banking apps almost every day.
Antonio Lorenzo joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2011 as head of the Wealth and International division and Group Corporate Development, leading the Group’s strategic review and subsequent programme of reducing non-core assets and exiting international locations. From 2013, he assumed the role of Group Director, Consumer Finance & Group Corporate Development, leading the division’s growth strategy whilst completing the sale of TSB, before being appointed as Chief Executive, Scottish Widows and Group Director, Insurance in October 2015.
Antonio has worked in Financial Services for over 30 years, in a variety of roles, divisions and countries. He is passionate about helping customers at key moments in their lives and he is privileged to work in an environment that allows them to constantly evolve in order to achieve this.
Antonio is also Chairperson for Schroders Personal Wealth and a Board member of the Association of British Insurers.
Before joining Lloyds Banking Group, Antonio Lorenzo held senior roles at Santander, including UK CFO, and Arthur Andersen and has also spent time teaching at the European University of Madrid.
Antonio Lorenzo joined the Group from Santander, where he had worked in a number of different leadership roles and jurisdictions since 1998. He was part of the management team that completed the take-overs of Abbey National in 2004 then Bradford & Bingley and Alliance & Leicester in 2008, and was Chief Financial Officer of Santander UK. Before Santander, Antonio spent over nine years at Arthur Andersen.
