About Angus Burrell

My constant desire for perfection could make me a rather annoying colleague (if you need someone with an exacting eye for detail look no further). It also informs my wardrobe. I wore a bow tie at School...why not, I like them! And a pocket handkerchief to my first sales job interview, only to be told I would never make it...too posh! I knew this wasn’t true. After all, I wasn’t too posh to work on an industrial chicken farm which ended my budding Army career (another story). So... off I went into the civilian world. With an immaculate suit, shoes with a mirror-like shine and a selection of pocket handkerchiefs for every occasion. And I bagged my first job with Business@Phones4U I quickly surprised the Directors with my ability to sell phone contracts to businesses. I'd target builder's vans I'd pass on the motorway for additional quick sales...never forgetting to include the insurance deal to achieve additional commission and monthly kickers! And I was onto something. Why sell one-offs when the income could be recurring? This early realisation that recurring revenue made absolute sense is what got me into payments. Over the past decade, I’ve opened UK offices for Nordic payments Companies, grown different business arms and assisted with the sale to an Icelandic Bank, subsequently being made GM of the Omni-Channel Solutions Division. I’ve seen the payments space develop from multi-channel to omni-channel and unified. Payment data now gives retailers a competitive advantage to attract loyal customers. I like to network, so I run a LinkedIn networking group for retailers. We discuss customer experience and their future stores, do join us. I like to think I provide excellent advice on many things. Namely refunds, chargebacks, risk mitigation and international expansion. My most valuable advice? I encourage retailers to stock carefully and know their customers (more ties and bright coloured trousers for me please)! https://www.linkedin.com/groups/8673214/
