Andy Ramsden has been involved in mobile payments ever since mobile payments became a thing. In 2008, he worked at Mobile Operator (Telefonica) O2 on the first public mobile payments pilot anywhere in the world. The London-based pilot used Nokia feature phones and NFC technology to allow users to travel the London underground and make contactless payments using just their mobile phone.
Since then, he has worked across the emerging mobile payments ecosystem, from Mobile Operators (Telefonica O2, Weve) to technology startups (DeviceFidelity, Proxama), Mobile Security (Trustonic), and Digital Technology Solution Providers G+D. Across these companies, he held executive roles in Sales, Solution Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and Product Marketing.
Andy Ramsden is currently freelancing and working with DIGISEQ to help bring Wearable Payments to the mass market. How someone pays should be down to choice and doesn't need to be restricted to conventional payment cards and mobile phones.
Wearable payments open up new channels for Issuer banks and offer real choice and innovation for consumers. And payments is just the start; wearables can also be used for access control, identity, and provenance. Wearables are not only innovative but also secure, convenient, cost-effective, and game-changing for banks, consumers, brands, and events.
