Andrew Stewart is a senior business leader with over 22 years of international card payments, retail financial service, cross border payments and remittance experience.
Andrew is currently the Global Head of Networks at Thunes, a leading cross border payments company. He is responsible for the expansions and optimisation of the Thunes global payment network.
Prior to Thunes, Andrew was the Managing Director - Middle East & Africa at WorldRemit, a leading digital remittance organisation. During his time at WorldRemit he transformed the region by expanding the partnership network with leading banks, mobile money provides and other financial institutions plus establishing presence in several African countries, including entity creation and securing licenses to launch WorldRemit send.
Prior to joining WorldRemit, he spent 17 years at American Express where he held a number of roles within American Express ranging from product development and management, strategy, marketing to business development. His last role at America Express was Vice President & General Manager, Turkey Middle East and Africa Global Network & International Card Services where he was responsible for the growth and expansion of the American Express partnership business across the region.
Prior to joining American Express, Andrew Stewart worked for a consulting firm specializing in the financial services industry, small & medium enterprises as well as non-profit organizations.
Andrew Stewart has held various director or board roles at American Express and Worldremit. At American Express he was a Board and Executive Committee Member of American Express Middle East, a joint venture company between American Express and Mawarid Holdings.
Andrew is also on the Compensation Committee of American Express Saudia Arabi, a joint venture company between American Express, Mawarid Holdings and Saudi Arabia Investment Bank (SAIB).
Andrew Stewart also served as Chairman of American Express Group Services Limited.
At WorldRemit, he was a director of several WorldRemit Africa entities.
