About Alexandre Gonthier

Alexandre Gonthier is a Swiss tech founder, entrepreneur, investor, and digital payments expert from San Francisco, California. He has led six companies to exits during his career, including three initial public offerings (IPOs). Currently, he serves as the Founder & CEO of Trustly, Inc. Alex has more than 25 years of experience in financial technology. He has lead several successful Fintechs including iPIN (acquired by Intel Corp.), Paymo (now Boku, LON: Boku), TicketScript (now Eventbrite, NYSE: EB), and eWise. In 2001, he launched the world’s first Online Banking-enabled Payments service with HSBC in Hong Kong. In 2011, he founded PayWithMyBank to pursue the opportunity in the United States after witnessing its success in the Netherlands and Germany. In 2019, PayWithMyBank merged with Trustly to accelerate its international expansion strategy. Since then, he has been focused on building a global digital payments platform that connects consumers with merchants via bank account-to-bank account payments. The account-to-account payment category is now also known as "Open Banking Payments”. Alexandre Gonthier holds a 1989 - 1994 Master's in Communications Systems @ Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne.   He attended EPFL.
