TransferGo hires new CTO as it doubles down on its financial inclusion mission

TransferGo, one of the world’s fastest growing money transfer companies, has announced the hire of Mantas Žalneravičius as its new Chief Technology Officer.

Based in Lithuania, Mantas will strengthen TransferGo’s senior leadership team and will ensure that technology remains at the heart of its mission to accelerate a world without borders through simpler, better financial services for hard-working people.

With over 15 years’ experience in steering digital innovation and transformation in the financial services industry, Mantas brings with him an enviable set of skills that will help TransferGo to scale fast, all the while preserving the company’s migrant identity. He joins TransferGo from Danske Bank where he was the Global Head of IT within the payments team, and focused on building instant cross-border payment capabilities with a centralised clearing house in the Nordics.

An immediate priority for Mantas will be to hire new engineers for TransferGo to work on its innovation roadmap. These products will evolve and strengthen TransferGo’s payment proposition – starting with the development of a bank account and card solution for Ukrainian customers. With the conflict in Ukraine disrupting access to traditional financial services, TransferGo is doubling down on its values and seeking to develop alternative solutions to address financial exclusion. The card is the first of its kind for TransferGo and will eventually be rolled out in other countries.

As TransferGo continues to meet global demand for accessible, faster money transfers and payments, Mantas will support TransferGo with its hiring growth by retaining and attracting new talent within its innovative, mission-driven product and engineering team.

Commenting on the appointment, Daumantas Dvilinskas, CEO and Co-Founder, TransferGo said: “It was critical that we appointed a Chief Technology Officer that lives and breathes our values. As a company committed to serving the migrant community, it’s our digital proposition that keeps them financially connected and so we must continue to evolve and innovate as their needs change.  With experience in marrying technology with customer experience, Mantas is the perfect fit for this role and we’re happy to welcome him as part of the TransferGo team.”

Mantas Žalneravičius, Chief Technology Officer, TransferGo added: “I am proud to be joining a business like TransferGo that is innovating in global payments to help and support those that need it most. I’m excited to use my skills and experience to make money transfers fairer for migrants, and to work with the diverse and passionate team at TransferGo to deliver impactful financial services.”

Built by migrants, for migrants, TransferGo is making international payments fairer, faster and more cost-effective, boosting local economies and helping to improve standards of living. With offices in London, Vilnius, Warsaw, Krakow, Berlin and Istanbul, TransferGo is a pan-European, mission-driven organisation, committed to creating an equitable world for all migrants.

In September, TransferGo raised $50m in a Series C funding round to further develop its product offering and expand its customer base. While the money transfer company continues to reach new milestones, onboarding more than 4 million customers, and recording over 15 million transactions with over $5.5 billion in global remittance flows.
