Investec Accelerates Growth in Electronic Trading as Client Demand Rises

Investec Bank plc, a leading international financial services provider, today announces the appointment of Vinesh Chhaya as Electronic Equities Sales Trader as it continues to scale its electronic trading capabilities and develop ZebrA-X, the firm’s electronic execution platform launched last year. The hire supports growing client demand for advanced electronic and hybrid execution solutions and reflects the strong momentum behind Investec’s electronic trading franchise.

Vinesh brings 20 years of experience as a senior equity sales trader across global financial institutions, including Peel Hunt, Numis and Canaccord Genuity. His background includes client account management, execution consultancy and advising electronic clients such as hedge funds, asset managers and quantitative funds.

In his new role, Vinesh will support the expansion of Investec’s electronic execution offering, contribute to the ongoing build-out of ZebrA-X and help strengthen client coverage.

Dominic Lowres, Head of Electronic Trading and Execution Strategy at Investec, said:

“Demand for our electronic execution solutions continues to accelerate, and Vinesh joins at an important stage in our growth. His experience across algorithmic execution and client advisory strengthens our ability to support clients as they engage more deeply with ZebrA-X. His contribution will be valuable as we continue to expand our capabilities and meet rising client demand.”

Investec’s electronic trading team works closely with clients to design tailored execution strategies that reflect their investment style, risk appetite and liquidity requirements. This consultative approach supports efficient electronic workflows, helping clients access fast, scalable execution while minimising signalling risk and operational burden.

ZebrA-X provides clients with a comprehensive suite of benchmark and liquidity-seeking algorithms, including dark and dark–lit strategies, block execution tools and a configurable wheel solution. The platform connects to a broad range of liquidity providers and venues, enabling clients to access deep mid-price resident liquidity while minimising pre- and post-trade signalling. It also supports the internalisation of institutional and retail order flow, helping achieve efficient and consistent execution outcomes.

Investec already captures over 5.6% of FTSE 250 flows, underpinning its position within the UK market. With trading capability across 64 markets from London and South Africa, the firm combines advanced technology with market insight to help clients navigate increasingly complex execution environments.

Clive Murray, Head of Equities at Investec, added:

“Our aim is to provide a differentiated execution service that combines advanced electronic tools with deep market insight. Strengthening the electronic sales trading team ensures we can meet the growing demand we are seeing while continuing to deliver a personal and consultative service. Vinesh’s experience and approach will make an important contribution to the ongoing growth of this area.”

This appointment forms part of Investec’s wider strategy to broaden its execution capabilities and build an integrated, client-centric platform that blends technology, liquidity access and high-quality trading expertise.

In addition to Vinesh’s appointment, Investec recently strengthened its execution capabilities with two senior hires in fixed income and ETFs. William Boddy has joined as Head of Fixed Income and ETFs, alongside Ben Goodchild as Deputy Head of Fixed Income Trading and ETFs. These appointments further demonstrate the firm’s continued investment in broadening its execution offering and expanding the range of solutions available to clients.
