Technology startup wins British Banking Award for Innovation of the Year.

Bud, the app that aggregates all financial services into one place, has earned the award for Innovation of the Year at this year’s British Bank Awards.

The company, now 18 months old, has been working with banks and fintech companies to create a new style of personal banking that links together all financial services, from pensions, mortgages, investments right the way through to currency exchange and insurance. It can be described as an automated comparison site that makes sure it’s customers always have the most relevant services.

Bud has been created to pre-empt new banking regulation called PSD2. ‘Open Banking’ is the term that the industry has given this kind of integrated service that is due to come into effect in January 2018. Bud’s CEO Ed Maslaveckas commented “It’s very humbling to win an award for what we are creating. The world of finance is about to go through a technological revolution and Bud is at the forefront, working with large banks to create a better future for everyone involved; consumers, banks and our partners.”

Now in their third year, the British Bank Awards are an annual campaign to find the best financial providers in the UK. The results of the British Bank Awards 2017 are based on 6,500 Smart Money People consumer reviews. Mike Fotis, founder of Smart Money People, added “Smart Money People was founded on the belief that people power can help to make financial services work better for everybody. The fact that these awards are customer-driven should make winners especially proud to take home a British Bank Award in 2017”

Ed added “Thank you to everyone who voted for us and has supported us over the last year. There are plenty more exciting things to come.”

Bud is still in BETA, which means it is still being tested. But you can sign up and use the first version of the site now. Head to thisisbud.com to get started.
