Kaspersky Lab contributes cybersecurity best practice to the Cloud Industry Forum

Cloud security innovator becomes the latest organisation to join industry body

Global cyber security company Kaspersky Lab, which provides leading software solutions that protect UK businesses, critical infrastructure, governments and consumers has today become the latest member of the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), the industry body focused on raising standards and improving transparency in the cloud sector.

Founded in 1997, Kaspersky Lab’s deep threat intelligence and security expertise is constantly transforming into next generation security solutions and services. The company’s comprehensive security portfolio includes leading endpoint protection and a number of specialised security solutions and services to fight sophisticated and evolving digital threats. Over 400 million users and 270,000 corporate clients are protected by Kaspersky Lab technologies.

Last year the company released its adaptive security solution, Kaspersky Security Cloud, which configures itself to the user’s behaviour and offers useful security advice in real time. By leveraging cloud-based technologies, the company offers users the right amount of security, at the right time, with limited strain on their devices.

CIF is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve standards and education in the cloud industry. It provides transparency through certification to a Code of Practice to endorse credible providers of cloud services and, through its Professional CIF Membership scheme, assists end users in determining the core information necessary to enable them to adopt such services with confidence.

Adam Maskatiya, General Manager, Kaspersky Lab UK & Ireland, commented: “Security is an underlying consideration to cloud adoption especially as cybercriminals are constantly finding new ways to penetrate networks. However, many businesses are starting to recognise that cloud is more likely to be the solution to the security problem than the cause. CIF has done a lot to dispel the fear, uncertainty and doubt over cloud security amongst end users and ensure that they have access to the information that they need to be able to make informed and safe decisions about their use of cloud technologies. We are therefore delighted to have joined the organisation and look forward to sharing our knowledge about cloud computing as a solution to increase cybersecurity.”

Alex Hilton, CEO of CIF, added: “Our research indicates that security remains high on the agenda for end users when it comes to cloud though it is no longer seen as the absolute barrier to adoption it once was. This is thanks in no small part to the work of security vendors like Kaspersky Lab to ensure that businesses can safely take advantage of the technology. Kaspersky Lab is one of the leading figures in the information security industry and we are therefore delighted that they have joined our ranks. Cybersecurity will be a major focus for CIF going forward so Kaspersky Lab’s input this topic will be very welcome!
