Send Achieves ISO 42001 Certification, Setting the Standard for Controlled Agentic AI in Underwriting

Leading insurtech Send Technology Solutions Ltd (Send) has secured ISO 42001 certification, the first international standard for AI management systems, positioning the company among a select group of UK firms to reach this milestone. The certification signals Send’s commitment to responsible AI governance in a sector where data sensitivity and decision integrity are critical, and where trust is a defining competitive advantage.

ISO 42001 provides a structured framework for managing AI risks across the full lifecycle of AI systems, including model security, bias mitigation, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

For Send, the certification strengthens cybersecurity controls, reduces vulnerabilities, and enhances data privacy protections within its underwriting products. It also ensures that AI tools are monitored and continually improved, rather than being treated as one-off deployments.

Send is already ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified, and ISO 42001 builds on this foundation by extending compliance and audit processes to cover AI governance and risk management. As AI regulation tightens across the industry, Send’s certification shows that it is leading the way with future-ready, scalable AI solutions – enabling insurers to adopt agentic and autonomous underwriting with confidence and control.

Ben Huckel, COO and Co-Founder of Send, who led the audit, said: “As we build the Send Agentic Framework, ISO 42001 provides the foundation that allows AI agents to transform underwriting – when deployed with control. Agentic AI has the potential to fundamentally change how underwriting decisions are made, but only if insurers can trust how those agents operate, learn, and act.

This certification ensures that our AI agents are governed across their entire lifecycle, with clear accountability, transparency, and human oversight built in. It means autonomy without loss of control.

The accreditation reinforces Send’s role as the trusted platform for agentic underwriting. We are building the future of autonomous underwriting in a way that insurers can rely on – secure, auditable, and responsible by design.”
