Reliable Transportation Association Launches Lloyd’s-Backed Physical Damage Insurance Program for Commercial Auto
The Reliable Transportation Association (RTA), a leading managing general agent and Lloyd’s of London coverholder, has announced the launch of a new Physical Damage insurance program for commercial auto operators.
The program is now available in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, California, Illinois, and Texas, with additional states – including Georgia and Florida – set to follow later this year.
Underwritten by Lloyd’s of London, the program expands RTA’s suite of insurance offerings for fleets and owner-operators in the transportation industry. The new coverage protects against physical losses stemming from collisions, rollovers, theft, vandalism, fire, and weather-related events.
Available exclusively through agents appointed with STAR Mutual RRG, the program leverages RTA’s digital platform to deliver near-instant quotes and eligibility decisions. This hybrid distribution model blends automation and underwriting oversight, enabling same-day quoting and binding in most cases. There are no premium financing costs, reducing friction for insureds and simplifying administration for agents.
“This program reflects our continued investment in smarter products, streamlined workflows, and stronger partnerships,” said the Reliable Transportation Association. “By combining the security and financial strength of Lloyd’s with our instant quoting and eligibility platform, we’re equipping agents with a truly modern tool to protect what matters most to their clients – their vehicles, their uptime, and their livelihoods.”
Designed specifically for safety-conscious operations, the program rewards insureds with clean MVRs, strong loss histories, and operational stability. Its pricing model ties premiums directly to safety data and experience, delivering fair and transparent coverage tailored to each operator’s profile.
The program mirrors STAR Mutual RRG’s commercial auto liability appetite with slight modifications for physical damage risks. Agents already contracted with STAR Mutual can begin offering the new coverage immediately, without additional onboarding requirements. Competitive commissions are also available.
Founded as the managing underwriter and distribution partner for STAR Mutual RRG, RTA serves as a key force in modernizing commercial auto insurance. Together, the two entities support a nationwide network of trusted agents and are committed to reducing friction, enhancing transparency, and empowering transportation businesses with smarter, faster insurance solutions.
