Grocemania Set to Expand One-Hour Grocery Deliveries Nationwide
A one-hour grocery delivery service, which delivers from most local grocery retailers is set to launch its operation nationwide by Dec 2021. Grocemania, a grocery delivery platform that launched in February 2018, currently delivers groceries from over 150 Independent and Chain grocery specialists across the whole of London, Bristol, and Brighton to customers in as little as one hour for a fixed 2.50 delivery fee.
The founder Askar Bulegenov plans to expand the service across Birmingham and offer grocery deliveries from most of the local & chain grocery stores over the next couple of months. Although he did not name the target retailers, but we’ve already seen Nisa, Londis, Costcutter, Budgens and Unilever brands on their website.
According to the Sales Director, Alexander Zhexembayev – since the launch a year ago they’ve acquired over 60,000 active users on their platform and currently serving 70,000 – 100,000 monthly orders. “What I like the most about our service- is that feeling that we actually help customers and businesses. Once I was called a ‘Life Savior’ – and you know how great it feels?” says Alex.
“Mostly it’s local moms with children, who need some simple things for cooking, but can’t leave their children alone at home” added Askar.
Customers pay a small £2.50 delivery fee on all orders and in some cases, there can be a 5% to 15% mark-up on some products to cover the costs of deliveries made by couriers. The company plans to eventually get rid of mark-ups on all items. Askar believes, that “cheaper deliveries” is the number one reason customers are using their service. “London is full of alternative options, like Ocado or even Amazon, however not everyone can afford one-hour slot deliveries with current rates (£40 + £4.99 Delivery Fee), especially if it’s urgent, or it is some small shopping. So, we want to enable everyone to get any groceries wherever and whenever they need, without spending a lot!” he said.
Having only £10 minimum order requirement also appealed to customers, despite the average order on Grocemania totaling more than £30. Askar said the diversity of shops to order from is yet another “very important” factor. You should never underestimate the power of local communities and Grocemania is set to empower independent retailers by providing them with the best last-mile logistics solution there is!
As part of Grocemania’s ‘Happy Customers’ policy, if any of the products aren’t available – drivers have to notify customers by call or text and suggest possible substitutions. The service also allows customers to leave comments on each order, like ‘Please get the freshest apples!’ for the best customer experience!
