The Swiss Innovation Agency Supports Calvin Risk’s Project on Automated Testing and Risk Assessment of AI Systems

Calvin Risk, a pioneer in assessment-first governance software, enables organizations to unlock business value from both predictive machine learning and generative AI through rigorous testing and risk assessments. The company has been awarded a USD 1.75 million grant by the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse) to support its project titled “Validating AI Models & Quantifying Their Risk in Commercial Solutions”, aimed at advancing trustworthy and measurable AI deployments in real-world business contexts.

From boardrooms to backends, AI is becoming the engine of global transformation. In Europe, AI adoption has entered a new phase of maturity: 42% of businesses now deploy AI consistently, marking a 27-point surge in just one year. Among them, 90% report tangible gains in revenue or productivity – a signal that AI is no longer experimental, but economically essential.

To meet this wave of adoption, Calvin Risk turned to the Swiss government for support; with current capabilities in predictive and generative AI assessments, Calvin Risk is looking to the next level of innovation in safer, more efficient enterprise AI systems. This is to be significantly accelerated by the support of Innosuisse, who plays a key role in advancing high-impact technologies and startups. In the words of Calvin’s CEO and Co-founder, Julian Riebartsch:

We are honored to receive this support from Innosuisse. As AI systems become more complex and capable, with increasing autonomy, it is crucial to rigorously test and thoroughly assess their risks. This funding empowers us to advance our mission of building robust tools for evaluating and managing AI risk, ensuring these powerful technologies are deployed safely. Switzerland, with its strong foundation in neutrality and innovation is uniquely positioned to lead the development of trustworthy and independent AI evaluations.

The funding from Innosuisse marks a significant milestone in Calvin’s growth journey. As Switzerland’s national innovation agency, Innosuisse supports ventures that merge scientific rigor with real-world impact, making it a natural partner for advancing AI risk management at scale. Their backing underscores the criticality and relevance of Calvin’s mission at a time when enterprises are grasping to align their novel AI systems with internal KPIs and operational risk policies.

We at Calvin are proud to kick off this project with the support of Innosuisse. The grant enables us to expand our platform with solutions the industry urgently needs; while also recognizing the progress we’ve made in AI and GenAI risk assessment and governance. Leading this project, Calvin’s CTO and Co-founder Syang Zhou notes:

We’re honored to have Innosuisse’s support as we confront the risks of rapid AI developments, because future-proofing innovation means asking the hard questions now.
