Former Amazon executive David Lindheimer appointed CPTO at Recharge.com

European branded payments company Recharge.com today announced the appointment of David Lindheimer as Chief Product and Technology Officer. David brings over 20 years of experience leading products and building technology teams for the likes of Microsoft and Amazon across the US and Asia.

In his most recent role, David tripled advertising marketplace demand as the Head of Campaign Building for Amazon Advertising, and previously built product and engineering teams for AWS and Amazon’s Devices organisation. Prior to Amazon, David spent 10 years at Microsoft, leading Dynamics business applications, a China-based incubator, and Bing’s travel vertical.

As CPTO, David will bring his wealth of experience as a formidable product leader and technology team builder to Recharge.com as the company unlocks a new chapter of rapid international growth.

“We are thrilled to have someone of David’s calibre joining us at such a pivotal time for the company,” said Recharge.com’s CEO Günther Vogelpoel. “David’s addition to our team will enable us to keep disrupting the prepaid payment market with smart technology and customer-friendly online solutions, as we continue to expand in markets around the world.”

“I joined Recharge.com to help scale our vision around branded payments and prepaid digital credit to millions of users around the world,” said David Lindheimer. “The track record of growth and leadership talent attracted me to join Recharge.com to lead their product and technical teams.”

Recharge.com is one of Europe’s fastest-growing technology companies, helping over 3 million people to process more than $500 million in consumer-branded payments each year. It has seen sharp growth from high smartphone penetration, increasing popularity of e-wallets and alternative payment methods, and the growing need for privacy and digital cross-border transactions.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of a $35 million Series B round of funding to further accelerate Recharge.com’s global expansion and the appointment of senior team members to fuel its growth, as the company opens a new office in Lisbon and builds up their technology team there. Michael Kent, one of Europe’s leading fintech entrepreneurs, was appointed in March as non-executive chairman.
