Fintech Podcast Hits 1,000 Episodes but Warns Industry is Still Fighting the Same Battles
Fintech Insider by 11:FS has today become the first-ever fintech podcast to celebrate its 1,000th episode – a milestone that reflects both the growth of the industry and its ever-evolving landscape.
But amongst the celebrations comes a warning. In reflecting on some of the earlier episodes of Fintech Insider, 11:FS noted that common talking points emerged, signalling that financial services has struggled to address persisting customer problems or fully embrace new technologies.
Although Brexit was the primary conversation when Fintech Insider first launched in 2016, other prominent topics included open banking, Banking-as-a-Service, crypto, and AI.
Fast forward to today’s financial world and institutions are still battling with the role that digital assets play, as well as how to implement AI off the back of widespread investment, all while waiting for regulatory processes to be put in place for both.
Over the course of Fintech Insider’s 1,000 episodes, more than 940 guests have featured from over 900 companies including Stripe, JP Morgan Chase, Nubank, Revolut, Klarna, M-Pesa, Monzo, and many more. To date, the show has been downloaded over 25 million times in more than 180 countries.
Reflecting on the past 1,000 episodes, David M. Brear, Group CEO at 11:FS and Fintech Insider host, said: “Fintech Insider reaching 1,000 episodes is a testament to the curiosity, knowledge, and excitement there is across this industry. Whether it’s new technologies, acquisitions, launches, or regulation – we’ve never been short of talking points and have loved being joined by some of the best financial minds around the world to discuss them. Digital banking still has a long way to go, but we’re looking forward to being the soundtrack for it along the way.”
The 1,000th episode, released this morning, looks back at nearly a decade of fintech change, while also asking what’s next for the industry. Hosted by 11:FS’ David M. Brear, Kate Moody, David Barton-Grimley, and Laura Warkins, it features guest contributions from long-time friends of the show, including:
-
Megan Caywood – Founder and CEO of Caywood
-
Nigel Walsh – Global Head of Insurance at ServiceNow
-
Ali Paterson – Founder, CEO and Editor in Chief at Fintech Finance
-
Val Kristensen – Corporate Affairs Director at OakNorth
-
Richard Davies – CEO of Allica Bank

-
Colin Payne – Head of Innovation at The FCA
-
Sam Maule – Head of Business Development at Moov
-
Sophie Guibaud – Strategic Sparring Partner at Building Alpha

As for what’s next? 1,000 episodes is just the latest milestone. As long as financial services remains 1% finished, Fintech Insider’s mission to inform, educate, and entertain will remain so too.
