ABN AMRO Launches Neobank BUUT

ABN AMRO’s payment app Tikkie developed a full-service bank for a new generation in just 12 months

After the summer, ABN AMRO will launch ‘BUUT’. BUUT offers everything you can expect from a bank, but a little bit different, like Tikkie. It is the first bank developed entirely around the world as young people experience it. Together with the Tikkie team, ABN AMRO built BUUT from the ground up in twelve months to create a bank that aligns seamlessly with the digital world inhabited by the new generation.

Annerie Vreugdenhil, Chief Commercial Officer Personal & Business Banking: “The world is changing, so we are too. There are more possibilities, we want more and we expect more. As a next-gen bank, BUUT understands this. It’s easy to use, interactive, 100% visually driven and totally at home in the world of the new generation. BUUT is everything you expect of a bank, but designed to Tikkie a different box. Built on the Tikkie platform, supported by ABN AMRO’s robust systems, with the fresh look & feel, tone of voice and user experience everyone knows from Tikkie. Developed with Tikkie’s creative drive, in an ABN AMRO environment where innovation, pioneering and entrepreneurship are leading. The result: innovation in record time.”

Young people manage their money differently

We’ve never had as many payment options as we do now. That opens up opportunities but also makes it harder to keep track, as we learned from a study by Nibud, the Dutch family finance awareness institute. Young people can lose control of their finances, thinking that they have less or more money than is actually the case. A matter of concern, because it is important to learn how to manage a budget at a young age, and realise that ‘when it’s gone, it’s really gone’. “As young people in this phase of life learn to save, keep within a budget and understand the impact of financial choices, BUUT is the solution this generation needs,” says Vreugdenhil.

Innovating with an eye to the future

Innovating from a foundation of trust, ABN AMRO has already launched several successful apps and brands including Tikkie, New10 and BUX. These innovations highlight the bank’s modern, flexible organisational structure. The bank is now harnessing this innovative power to respond to the changing expectations of new generations, who handle their money differently from previous generations. BUUT is ABN AMRO’s answer to the changing financial world young people live in.

BUUT will be available in app stores after the summer. To get updates, be first in line for access or even help test the app in our BUUT community, sign up via buut.com (live from 4 June).
