Checkout.com partners with Xiaomi to optimize the payment experience in HK and Macau

Checkout.com, the cloud-based payments service provider, today announced a partnership with Xiaomi to provide an end-to-end payment solution for its Hong Kong and Macau payments. The partnership will enable Xiaomi to greatly simplify the payment process to support its global payment strategy and development goals.

The companies will work together in Hong Kong and Macau, which are important markets for Xiaomi’s global development. As the first batch of mobile phone manufacturers to launch payment functions, Xiaomi began to deploy the mobile payment market in 2016. After several business integrations, Xiaomi aggregates a variety of payment scenarios for customers and improve the NFC payment environment.

Xiaomi selected Checkout.com as its payment solution partner to further enhance online payment processing capabilities and optimize the payment experience for users in Hong Kong and Macau. Checkout.com’s business covers major payment markets in the world, including the EMEA, U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. The company holds 7 global acquiring licenses and can accept all major international credit and debit cards, as well as popular alternative and local payment methods. With global acquiring capabilities and a professional payment platform, Xiaomi users in Hong Kong and Macau can easily enjoy more diversified payment methods.

Today, Checkout.com has 19 offices worldwide, offering local expertise where needed. It therefore offers increased payment performance and the associated cost efficiencies to Xiaomi. On top of that, Checkout.com’s sophisticated API can help Xiaomi further expand its global payment business in the future.

Recently, the Hong Kong government has launched consumption coupons, aiming to boost the retail industry. The project has also simultaneously accelerated the application and popularization of electronic payment services in HK. The second-phase of consumption coupons are available on 6 different electronic payment tools, and Checkout.com can support a variety of them, including WeChat Pay HK and Alipay HK. Therefore, Xiaomi users in Hong Kong can receive and use the coupons through this partnership.

“The partnership is in line with our global development goals – that is to provide global users with more payment options. With Checkout.com’s global acquiring capabilities and excellent platform stability, we can efficiently simplify the payment process and offer a seamless payment experience to our customers,” Said Ms. Janine Luo, General Manager of Xiaomi Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan. “Also, we are impressed with Checkout.com’s local team of payment experts, who enable us to quickly integrate the strengths of its platform and benefit our global payment strategy.”

“When one world-renowned smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, chose us as its payment partner in Hong Kong and Macau, it validates everything Checkout.com stands for,” said Brian Sze, head of the APAC region at Checkout.com. We are looking forward to the next chapter of our partnership as we grow together.”
