Causality Link Statement in recognition of content creators
US Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch has said that laws protecting online platforms’ freedom of expression do not apply to artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, including language models like ChatGPT. The statement was made during the oral arguments of a significant case, Gonzalez v. Google, that deals with the protection of algorithms under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The case revolves around the family of Nohemi Gonzalez, who sued Google under the Anti-Terrorism Act, and argued that algorithms such as Google search or YouTube could be considered endorsements of illegal content. Meanwhile, AI companies like Causality Link are dependent on content created by others to train their algorithms, and they pay for it as part of their business model.-
“AI is built on paying for media and other content,” said Causality Link co-founder and CTO Eric Jensen. “OpenAI, Causality Link, and literally every other AI company exists solely because of content made by others, and that’s why Causality Link spends more to access our eight thousand digital sources than we spend on our cloud infrastructure.”
Causality Link’s promise to content creators includes:
- Every piece of content available in its system is paid and licensed by Causality Link or is owned by our customers and used exclusively for their benefit.
- Metrics are transparently tracked back to the source, driving traffic, quotes, and citations to the original content.
- Each content creator used by Causality Link is given full attribution and credit, which helps improve their brand credibility with Causality Link’s world-renowned clients.
- Niche content creators have several ways to profit from Causality Link’s use of their content, ranging from royalties to acting as a lead generator by driving interested users to original content providers’ paywalls.
“Causality Link’s proprietary software gathers data from over 130 million text pages, including content created by journalists and major news media like The New York Times and The Washington Post,” concluded Jensen. “Our promise today and forever is that we will reward content with compensation.”
