Revolut launches donations page to support victims of the recent earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria

Following last Monday’s devastating earthquake that affected the regions of Türkiye and Syria, Revolut has launched a fundraising page to support those impacted by the natural disaster. Donate through Revolut Revolut has partnered with several charities to make it easy for customers to donate to the victims of the earthquake. Through the Donations section of their Revolut app, users can donate to selected charities such as UK for UNHCR, The Irish Red Cross, Disasters Emergency Committee and three member charities Save the Children, The British Red Cross, and Action Against Hunger, amongst others, and help the rescue work that is currently taking place in the affected countries, as well as the support for victims, especially children, To donate, Revolut users should navigate to the ‘Hub’ section of their app, then click on the ‘Donations’ icon (white heart in a yellow square) and select their preferred charity. They can then select a one-off donation or establish a periodic donation if they wish to make regular contributions. This special donations campaign is now available for all users in the United Kingdom and EEA. More about Revolut partners Disasters Emergency Committee - Disasters Emergency Committee - The DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. The DEC membership supports all vulnerable groups, which means they coordinate an effective UK charity response to all aspects of a disaster. The Türkiye-Syria Earthquake Appeal was launched on Thursday 9th February, with 14 of the 15 DEC member charities planning on or already responding to the earthquake directly or through local partners in Türkiye and Syria. The immediate focus of the relief effort is to save lives and help people who have been injured or lost their homes by providing medical care, temporary shelter and blankets. DEC charities and their local partners have immediately started to distribute winter kits and prepare shelters. Other priorities are food and also the provision of clean water and sanitation to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases such as cholera.

• £10 could provide blankets for two people to keep them warm
• £50 could provide emergency food for two families for 10 days
• £100 could provide emergency shelter for four families

UK for UNHCR - The UN Refugee Agency, has teams and partners in Syria and Türkiye that are providing emergency aid from prepositioned stocks and mobilising additional supplies of lifesaving items. In Syria, emergency supplies of high-thermal blankets, mattresses and other lifesaving items have already been distributed, and UNHCR stands ready to scale up support for those in need in both countries. How the UNHCR uses donors’ money:

• £825 could help provide warm blankets to 100 displaced families.
• £5,000 could help provide an emergency relief kit to 30 families in Syria, including mattresses, blankets, jerry cans and other essentials.
• £25,000 could help provide emergency shelter to 65 families following the loss of their home.

All the charities involved will receive 100% of the donations, as Revolut charges no fees for this service. Save The Children - Following the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, children are feared trapped with thousands forced out of their homes into the freezing night and without shelter. Save The Children, a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has been working in the region for many years and thanks to their well-established relationships with local organisations, they’ve been able to move quickly. The Save the Children emergency response team are working with partners including the Turkish Red Crescent and Support to Life in Türkiye and Shafak in Syria to assess the full extent of the damage and find out what children need most. How Save The Children uses donors’ money:

• £2.50 could pay for a pair of new shoes for a child
• £23 could provide warm winter clothing for one child
• £49 could provide psychological support for 10 children for 3 months, to help them process what they've been through
• £5,350 could help to provide 50 families who’ve lost everything with warm blankets, clothes, kitchen supplies and materials to build shelters

British Red Cross - Turkish Red Crescent and Syrian Arab Red Crescent have been mobilised on the ground distributing essentials like food, water, blankets and setting up temporary shelters to support thousands of survivors in freezing temperatures. Psychosocial support is also being provided to people who have been traumatised by the experience. Turkish Red Crescent disaster response teams have so far erected 16 mobile kitchens and supplied 77 catering vehicles, 2,006 tents and 28,654 blankets. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) have sent more than 30 ambulances to the affected areas and are currently distributing 4,900 mattresses and 9,440 blankets to people facing stormy weather and freezing overnight temperatures. The British Red Cross is a DEC member charity. Irish Red Cross - Following the multiple earthquakes which devastated southern Türkiye and northern Syria, the Irish Red Cross is mobilising support for our partners at the Turkish Red Crescent and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. Together they have delivered blankets, tents, bottles of water and are providing hot food to tens of thousands of people who are without shelter. Psychological First Aid is also being provided to the most vulnerable communities. The primary needs identified include search and rescue, emergency shelter, food assistance, and the provision of medical support. How the Irish Red Cross uses donors’ money:

• €50 could help provide urgent medical supplies.
• €75 could help provide vital personal hygiene items.
• €150 could help provide emergency shelter to earthquake affected families.
