Press Release: Ex-Revolut Product Chief Dmitry Zlokazov Joins AI Startup Murphy as CPO | Featured Image by FF News

Dmitry Zlokazov, the former Global Head of Product and Head of Retail at Revolut, has joined Murphy as Co-founder and Chief Product Officer. The appointment signals a significant shift in how tier-one banks approach manual operations, as Murphy’s AI agents begin replacing human call centres in the high-stakes world of debt collection and credit servicing.

What was announced

Murphy is deploying AI voice agents designed to take over manual banking operations, specifically focusing on the debt collection phase of the credit funnel. These agents negotiate repayment plans with customers in arrears on behalf of 34 banks and lenders across 15 countries. The startup, founded in Barcelona with additional offices in London, Dubai, São Paulo, and CDMX, has secured $15 million in funding from investors including Northzone, ElevenLabs, Lakestar, and Seedcamp.

The platform aims to solve the difficulty banks face when transitioning tedious manual processes to automated systems. In controlled A/B tests against traditional call centres and collection agencies, Murphy’s AI agents reportedly recovered 3–4 percentage points more than human staff. This performance comes at a fraction of the cost while maintaining a record of zero compliance incidents. Zlokazov, who previously managed the main consumer product department and KPIs at Revolut, will lead the effort to scale these agents across the broader credit servicing lifecycle. The company’s current footprint includes deployments within top-tier global institutions across Europe and Latin America, where the ROI on automated collections is most immediate.

"Building a voice agent that handles the happy path is easy. What banks need is an AI workforce they can rely on: compliant on every call, built into their own processes, and sounding like a real person. That’s the platform we’ve built, and it’s already proving itself in enterprise deployments."

The companies involved

Murphy AI is a Barcelona-based fintech specialist focused on automating banking operations through conversational AI. The company was founded by Borja Solé, formerly of Y Combinator, and Marc Sanchez, formerly of Twilio, alongside Zlokazov. Murphy has established a global presence with a physical footprint spanning Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

The startup is backed by a heavyweight group of venture capital firms. Northzone is a prominent investor in the European tech ecosystem, while Lakestar and Seedcamp have long histories of backing early-stage fintech disruptors. Notably, Murphy is also supported by ElevenLabs, a leader in AI audio technology that has recently seen its own valuation soar as enterprise demand for sophisticated voice synthesis grows. This backing suggests a strategic alignment between Murphy’s operational focus and the underlying technology required to make AI agents indistinguishable from human operators in sensitive financial contexts. Together, these investors provide the capital and industry connections necessary for Murphy to challenge established business process outsourcing providers in the banking sector.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked the rise of AI-driven operational tools and the investors backing them. What this means

This move puts traditional debt collection agencies and business process outsourcing firms under direct pressure. For years, digital transformation in collections meant SMS reminders or simple chatbots; Murphy is moving the needle by automating the actual negotiation—the most human-centric part of the process. The involvement of a high-profile Revolut veteran suggests that the technology has matured past the experimental phase and is ready for the rigours of tier-one banking compliance. The central question for the sector is no longer whether AI can handle these calls, but how quickly legacy institutions can integrate these "AI workforces" without triggering regulatory pushback over automated financial interactions or consumer vulnerability.
