Mal is aggressively expanding its Abu Dhabi-based team by recruiting UAE Nationals to build its AI-native Islamic financial platform. This recruitment drive, supported by a dedicated Open House event, signals a significant step in aligning high-growth fintech innovation with the UAE’s national workforce development goals, offering professionals a ground-floor role in a globally ambitious venture.

What was announced

Mal is hosting an Open House on Monday, 19 October 2026, at 6:30 PM at its office in Sky Tower, Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi. The event is designed for Emirati professionals to engage with the team and explore roles within the company’s technical and financial departments. This hiring push follows Mal’s recent milestone of opening its global waitlist, which occurred just three months after the firm secured its In-Principal Approval (IPA) from the Central Bank of the UAE.

The platform is positioning itself as the world’s first AI-native Islamic financial service, where artificial intelligence is integrated into the core architecture rather than being added as a secondary feature. This structural choice is intended to create a more connected and streamlined user experience for a global audience. Prospective candidates can also access current opportunities through the company’s dedicated careers portal. The initiative aligns with the UAE Government’s broader strategy to increase the participation of local talent within the private sector, particularly in high-tech industries like fintech. Joining the firm at this stage offers UAE Nationals the opportunity to contribute to a platform being built from the ground up at the intersection of technology and Sharia-compliant finance.

"Mal is being built from Abu Dhabi with the ambition to serve the world, and Emirati talent should be part of that journey. We want to create meaningful opportunities for UAE Nationals to bring their expertise, ambition and perspective to what we are building, while growing alongside a company with global aspirations."

Abdallah Abu-Sheikh, Founder and CEO of Mal.

The companies involved

Mal is a fintech firm headquartered in Abu Dhabi, operating at the intersection of Islamic finance and advanced technology. It distinguishes itself as an "AI-native" platform, meaning its internal systems and customer-facing products are built on an AI-first foundation. The company is led by Founder and CEO Abdallah Abu-Sheikh. As a relatively new entrant in the Middle Eastern fintech ecosystem, Mal is attempting to modernize the Sharia-compliant banking sector, which has traditionally been dominated by legacy institutions. By basing its operations in the UAE, the company leverages the region's robust regulatory framework and its status as a global hub for Islamic finance. The firm’s recent regulatory progress with the Central Bank of the UAE underscores its commitment to operating within a formalised financial environment while pursuing a global growth strategy that combines traditional principles with modern computational power.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has tracked Mal’s rapid development throughout 2026. In January, we reported that Mal Raises $230 Million to Launch The World’s First AI-Native Islamic Digital Bank, a significant capital injection that set the stage for its current expansion. More recently, in September 2026, we covered the next phase of its rollout in Mal Launches Global Waitlist for AI-Native Islamic Financial Platform. This prior coverage highlights the company's transition from a well-funded startup to a regulated entity now actively building its workforce and preparing for its first product releases, following the receipt of its In-Principal Approval from the UAE regulator.

What this means

This move highlights the intensifying competition for specialized talent in the Middle East’s fintech corridor. By prioritizing UAE Nationals, Mal is not just fulfilling regulatory expectations but is attempting to anchor its global brand in local expertise. The broader Islamic finance sector is under pressure to modernize; legacy Sharia-compliant banks often struggle with technical debt, leaving a gap for AI-native challengers to capture a younger, digital-first demographic. The success of this recruitment drive will likely serve as a bellwether for whether the region’s talent pool can keep pace with the rapid influx of venture capital into high-complexity fields like AI-driven banking. It also raises the question of how quickly traditional institutions will respond to the threat of AI-native competitors.
