Jyske Bank Acquires Formuepleje to Expand Wealth Management Reach
By Lauren Towner · 7 September 2026

Jyske Bank has signed a binding agreement to acquire 100% of FP Kapital A/S, the parent company of wealth manager Formuepleje. The deal significantly expands Jyske Bank’s footprint in the Danish wealth management sector, adding DKK 40bn in assets under management and providing the bank with specialized capabilities in alternative investments like real estate and private equity.
What was announced
The acquisition of FP Kapital A/S brings one of Denmark’s largest independent wealth managers under the Jyske Bank umbrella. Formuepleje currently serves approximately 14,000 investors and maintains a workforce of nearly 100 employees based primarily in Aarhus and Copenhagen. The transaction is designed to accelerate Jyske Bank’s growth within the affluent customer segment, where it already claims high satisfaction rates for its private banking services, having been ranked the most satisfied in Denmark for the past 11 years.
Financially, the deal is expected to generate an annual net fee income slightly above DKK 0.2bn. While integration costs are projected to reach approximately DKK 0.1bn, the acquisition is expected to be EPS accretive starting in 2028. The net capital consumption for the bank is estimated at close to 0.1% of its risk exposure amount. This financial structure suggests a calculated integration period aimed at long-term stability rather than immediate returns.
The integration will allow Formuepleje to leverage Jyske Bank’s scale and wealth management platform, while Jyske Bank gains access to Formuepleje’s expertise in alternative assets. Despite the acquisition, Jyske Bank’s earnings per share expectations for 2026 remain unchanged, targeting a range of DKK 71-85, which translates to a net profit between DKK 4.3bn and DKK 5.1bn. The transaction is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
"Through the acquisition, Jyske Bank aims to build on Formuepleje's strong advisory model, customer relationships and highly skilled employees. Our ambition is to further develop Formuepleje's business and customer offering based on the company's existing strengths. At the same time, Formuepleje will gain access to Jyske Bank's scale benefits, platform and capabilities within asset and wealth management. The transaction also creates opportunities to complement Jyske Bank's product offering within selected alternative investments such as real estate and private equity, while providing Formuepleje's customers access to Jyske Bank's broader range of products and advisory services."

The companies involved
Jyske Bank is a major player in the Danish financial landscape, operating through its primary domain at jyskebank.dk. The institution has built a reputation for its private banking services, maintaining a long-standing position of high customer satisfaction in the Danish market. As a full-service bank, it provides a wide range of financial products to both retail and corporate clients, with a strategic focus on expanding its presence in the high-net-worth and affluent segments. Its headquarters and operations are deeply rooted in the Danish economy, providing a stable platform for large-scale acquisitions.
FP Kapital A/S is the holding company for Formuepleje, which stands as one of the most prominent independent wealth management firms in Denmark. With a strong geographic focus on the major hubs of Aarhus and Copenhagen, Formuepleje has carved out a niche by offering specialized investment advisory and asset management services to a base of 14,000 investors. The firm is particularly noted for its focus on alternative investments, including real estate and private equity, which distinguishes its portfolio from more traditional retail banking offerings. The acquisition by Jyske Bank represents a consolidation of independent wealth management expertise into a larger, more capitalized banking structure, marking the end of Formuepleje's status as a standalone independent entity.
What this means
This acquisition signals an intensifying battle for the Danish wealth management market, where scale is becoming the primary differentiator for survival. By absorbing a major independent player like Formuepleje, Jyske Bank is moving to lock in affluent clients before they are courted by pan-Nordic competitors or digital-first wealth platforms. The inclusion of alternative investments like private equity suggests that traditional banks no longer view these as fringe products, but as essential tools for retaining sophisticated investors in a low-yield environment.
The long lead time for EPS accretion—not expected until 2028—indicates that Jyske Bank is prioritizing long-term market share over immediate profit, placing significant pressure on smaller independent managers who lack the capital to compete with such integrated platforms. It raises questions about the future of independent advisory in Denmark; if the largest players are being absorbed into the tier-one banks, the "independent" label may become a rare commodity. This move forces other mid-sized Danish banks to consider whether they can grow organically or if they too must pursue aggressive M&A to maintain their relevance in the private banking sector.
