DeCard Partners with Polygon Labs to Enable Global Stablecoin Payments at 150 Million Merchants
By Effie Foxtrot · 29 October 2025

DeCard, a brand under DCS Card Centre, has entered a strategic partnership with Polygon Labs to integrate the Polygon Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network for stablecoin deposits. This move allows users to spend USDT and USDC at 150 million merchants globally, bridging the gap between digital assets and traditional retail payments without requiring merchants to manage blockchain infrastructure.
What was announced
The partnership centers on the integration of the Polygon network into the DeCard ecosystem, specifically supporting customers of both DeCard and DeCard Luminaries. This technical link enables users to deposit two of the world’s most widely used stablecoins, USDT and USDC, directly into their accounts via the Polygon network. Once deposited, these assets can be used for real-world transactions across a global network of more than 150 million merchants.
A key feature of this integration is its compatibility with existing financial infrastructure. Payments are designed to function within current point-of-sale systems, meaning merchants do not need to handle digital wallets, manage private keys, or oversee onchain operations to accept these payments. The transaction settles in a manner that mirrors traditional card payments for the seller, while the buyer utilizes their stablecoin balance.
Polygon was selected as the underlying rail due to its technical efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The network offers transaction fees of approximately $0.001 per transaction and achieves transaction finality in five seconds or less. This speed is critical for supporting near-instant settlement in high-volume merchant payment flows. By adopting this technology, DeCard joins a growing list of major financial platforms, including Stripe, Revolut, and Mastercard, that utilize Polygon for payment processing. The collaboration is intended to transition stablecoins from speculative trading assets into practical tools for everyday commerce.
The companies involved
DCS Card Centre, the parent company of the DeCard brand, is a significant player in the Singaporean payments landscape. Formerly known as Diners Club Singapore, the firm rebranded to DCS Card Centre to reflect its evolving role in the modern fintech ecosystem. It operates under the DCS Group and has shifted its focus toward integrating traditional credit card services with emerging digital asset technologies. DeCard itself is positioned as a next-generation card brand specifically built to facilitate seamless stablecoin spending.
Polygon Labs is the Web3 software company responsible for developing the Polygon Proof-of-Stake network. As a prominent scaling solution in the blockchain space, Polygon Labs provides the infrastructure necessary for high-speed, low-cost transactions that traditional blockchains often struggle to provide at scale. The company has become a preferred partner for traditional financial institutions looking to experiment with or deploy decentralized finance (DeFi) and stablecoin solutions, maintaining a market position as a bridge between the Web3 world and institutional finance.
What FF News has reported before
Polygon has consistently appeared in FF News coverage as a primary infrastructure provider for major fintech firms. Additionally, Stable.com and Polygon Enable Direct Bank Transfers from Self-Custody Wallets demonstrated the network's utility in connecting self-custody assets with the banking system. Other notable developments include Coinme Appointing Fintech Veteran Laurent Reichert as CCO to Drive Global Expansion with Polygon and MoonPay Acquiring Entendre to Launch AI-Powered Agentic Finance for Stablecoins, further illustrating the momentum behind Polygon's ecosystem in the payments sector.
What this means
This announcement signals a shift in the stablecoin narrative from "store of value" to "medium of exchange." By removing the technical burden from the merchant—who remains shielded from the complexities of private keys and onchain settlement—DeCard is addressing the primary friction point that has historically hindered crypto-based retail payments. The use of Polygon’s low-cost rails puts significant pressure on traditional cross-border payment providers, whose fees often dwarf the $0.001 transaction cost offered here. However, the ultimate success of such initiatives remains tied to consumer behavior; the industry must now prove that users actually want to spend their stablecoins at the checkout rather than holding them as a hedge against local currency volatility.
