DeCard and Coin98 have launched the Coin98 Fusion Card to bridge the gap between decentralized finance and traditional retail payments in Southeast Asia. By integrating a regulated card-issuing infrastructure with a major DeFi wallet, the partnership allows millions of users to spend stablecoins at over 150 million Visa-accepting merchants without the friction of manual conversions.

What was announced

On 19 November 2025, DeCard and Coin98 announced a strategic partnership to debut the Coin98 Fusion Card, a payment solution designed to solve the "last-mile" problem of digital asset utility. The card allows users to spend stablecoins directly from the Coin98 Super Wallet at any merchant where Visa is accepted. This rollout is specifically targeted at the APAC region, where consumer interest in digital assets is high but practical spending options remain limited.

The initiative addresses a significant market disconnect in Southeast Asia. While 92% of the population in the region is aware of cryptocurrencies and 64% express an interest in using them for everyday payments, the process of converting these assets into spendable currency often involves high fees and complex third-party platforms. The Coin98 Fusion Card aims to eliminate these hurdles by offering a solution with no over-the-counter (OTC) fees, no conversion hassle, and no requirement for additional applications. Users can manage the entire process—including sign-up, top-ups, and spending—within the existing Coin98 ecosystem.

The product includes several incentives to drive adoption, such as a sign-up bonus and referral rewards. For high-volume users, the card features cashback tiers and additional perks. By connecting Coin98’s decentralized wallet infrastructure with DeCard’s compliant payment rails, the partnership represents one of the first major collaborations between a regulated financial institution and a leading DeFi wallet in the Southeast Asian market.

The companies involved

DeCard is a specialized card brand focused on stablecoin integration, operating as part of DCS Card Centre. Based in Singapore, DCS Card Centre is a regulated financial institution with a heritage in the card-issuing market spanning more than 50 years. Formerly known as Diners Club Singapore, the organization has undergone a significant digital transformation to position itself as a bridge between traditional finance and the emerging Web3 economy. DeCard leverages this institutional foundation to provide secure and compliant infrastructure for digital asset spending.

Coin98 is an all-in-one decentralized platform and "Super Wallet" that has built a user base of millions globally. The platform serves as a gateway to various blockchain networks, allowing users to store, manage, and trade digital assets across multiple chains. By partnering with DCS Card Centre, Coin98 is expanding its ecosystem from purely digital interactions to physical-world utility. This move allows the DeFi provider to offer its users a tangible exit ramp into the global retail economy, supported by the regulatory oversight of a traditional card issuer.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has previously tracked the rapid expansion of DCS Card Centre’s digital asset ecosystem and its efforts to provide institutional-grade rails for stablecoin transactions. In November 2025, we reported that Standard Chartered to Power DeCard in Singapore Through Partnership with DCS, a development that brought major banking support to DeCard’s settlement infrastructure. Following this, in April 2026, the brand further extended its reach through a collaboration with a crypto-native platform, as detailed in DogPay Teams Up With DeCard to Launch Stablecoin Payment Card, DogPay Card. These partnerships underscore a consistent strategy by DCS to become the primary issuer for the decentralized finance sector.

What this means

This partnership marks a critical maturation point for the "crypto card" sector in APAC. By removing the friction of OTC fees and secondary apps, DeCard and Coin98 are moving stablecoin payments away from being a niche novelty and toward a legitimate retail standard. This development puts significant pressure on traditional regional banks that have been slow to integrate digital asset settlement. As regulated entities like DCS Card Centre provide the necessary compliance framework, the industry is moving toward a reality where the underlying currency—whether fiat or stablecoin—becomes invisible at the point of sale. This raises urgent questions for competitors about how quickly they can adapt to a market that increasingly demands "Super Wallet" functionality with real-world reach.
