BRI Wealth Management CEO Dan Boardman-Weston Joins PIMFA Board
By Lauren Towner · 7 September 2026

Dan Boardman-Weston, Chief Executive of BRI Wealth Management, has been appointed to the Board of the Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (PIMFA). This move signals a deeper integration between regional wealth managers and the primary trade body shaping UK financial policy, ensuring the operational realities of advice-led firms are represented at the highest regulatory levels.
What was announced
The appointment of Dan Boardman-Weston to the PIMFA Board formalises a decade-long relationship between the Midlands-based wealth manager and the trade association. While Boardman-Weston and his colleagues have previously contributed to various PIMFA working groups, this appointment places the leader of a growing regional firm directly into the association’s governance structure. PIMFA serves as the central voice for firms providing investment services and financial planning, representing a sector that manages £1.65 trillion in private savings and investments and employs more than 63,000 people.
The move comes during a period of significant expansion for BRI Wealth Management. Under Boardman-Weston’s leadership, the firm has transitioned from a traditional investment management model to a financial planning-led business. BRI now manages more than £800 million in client assets. This growth has been supported by a series of strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of Gloucestershire-based FutureFocus Advisory Limited in October 2025 and the acquisition of West Midlands Wealth Management in March.
In addition to these acquisitions, BRI has been strengthening its internal leadership and governance. In July, the firm appointed Paul Stockton as a Non-Executive Director. Stockton brings substantial industry experience to the firm, having previously served as the Chief Executive of Rathbones Group Plc from 2019 to 2025. These collective moves underscore BRI’s strategy to scale its presence in the Midlands while maintaining a focus on high-quality, personal advice and dedicated client service.
"PIMFA plays a vital role in positioning the views of members with the Regulator, Government and key stakeholders. PIMFAs’ collaborative and learning approach provides a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and good practices. I am pleased to be asked to join the PIMFA Board, and I look forward to representing the views of the sector and working with the Chair and fellow Board members."

The companies involved
BRI Wealth Management is a Midlands-based firm specialising in wealth management and financial planning. The firm has pursued a long-term strategy to become a leading wealth management business in the region, combining regional scale with personal service. Its recent growth has been driven both organically and through the acquisition of firms like FutureFocus Advisory Limited and West Midlands Wealth Management. The firm’s leadership includes Paul Stockton, a Non-Executive Director who formerly led Rathbones Group Plc, one of the UK's most prominent wealth management institutions.
PIMFA, the Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association, is the leading trade body for the UK’s wealth management and financial advice industry. Its members support a wide range of clients, including individuals, families, charities, pension funds, and businesses. PIMFA plays a critical role in shaping policy and regulatory debate, acting as a bridge between its member firms and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Government, and other key stakeholders. The association focuses on supporting the development of the UK investment advice and financial planning sector through advocacy, working groups, and stakeholder engagement.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has consistently tracked PIMFA’s advocacy work as the association navigates a shifting regulatory and economic landscape. In October 2025, the association made headlines when PIMFA Calls on the Government to Prioritise Stability and Fairness at November’s Budget, highlighting the need for a stable environment for private savings. This followed their active participation in regulatory consultations, such as when PIMFA Responds to FCA’s Targeted Support Consultation in August 2025.
The association has also been proactive in setting long-term goals for the industry, as seen when PIMFA Sets Out 5-Year Agenda for Government to Create a UK Culture of Thriving Financial Health in 2024. Beyond policy, FF News reported on PIMFA’s technological initiatives, including when Ecospend Joins PIMFA WealthTech as Innovation Partner to Pioneer New Open Finance Solutions for the Wealth Sector in 2023, demonstrating the association's focus on digital transformation within the wealth sector.
What this means
The inclusion of a regional CEO on the PIMFA Board reflects a broader industry trend where mid-sized wealth managers are seeking a more direct voice in regulatory discussions. As the FCA intensifies its focus on Consumer Duty and the quality of financial advice, smaller and regional firms often face disproportionate compliance burdens compared to national giants. This appointment puts pressure on trade bodies to ensure that "one-size-fits-all" regulation does not stifle regional competition or local service models. The industry is currently at a crossroads where organic growth is increasingly difficult without significant scale, raising questions about the long-term viability of independent regional firms in a consolidating market.
