Armalytix has appointed Arvin Razon as its first dedicated Head of Legal and Compliance to bolster its regulatory infrastructure within the UK property sector. For fintech professionals, this move signals a maturing of Open Banking and identity verification services as they transition from niche tools to essential, high-stakes compliance foundations for lenders and legal firms.

What was announced

Arvin Razon joins Armalytix to oversee the firm’s compliance framework, specifically focusing on its expansion across conveyancing, lending, and estate agency. Razon will take ownership of the company's relationship with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). His remit includes horizon scanning for regulatory shifts, managing UK GDPR and international data transfers, and overseeing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols.

Razon brings more than ten years of experience from senior legal and compliance leadership roles at Paddle, Thought Machine, Brankas, and ING Bank, where he served as Data Protection Officer. He is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, also qualified to practise in Australia and the Philippines, and holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, and a Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines. He is a Fellow of Information Privacy with the International Association of Privacy Professionals, with further certifications in artificial intelligence governance and cybersecurity.

The role is designed to support Armalytix’s status as an FCA-registered Account Information Service Provider (AISP), a position it has held for seven years. Razon will also be responsible for maintaining ISO 27001 and Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF) certifications. Beyond regulatory oversight, he will lead commercial legal work, including contract reviews and partnership agreements, to ensure the firm's growth in Open Banking and Source of Funds products remains aligned with legal standards.

"Armalytix sits at the vanguard of driving real change in property data and pushing Open Banking forward into Open Finance, and our clients need to know that the foundations underneath our platform are as robust as the products themselves. Arvin's experience building compliance functions inside high-growth fintechs, combined with his regulatory relationships and his understanding of data and AI policy, means we now have that dedicated expertise in-house to help us keep raising the bar on our rigour and service excellence. Compliance has been at the core of Armalytix since day one, and this is about making sure our growth never outpaces our governance, and the legal and property professionals we work with, and the home movers relying on them, can trust us as the sector's compliance backbone."

The companies involved

Armalytix is an intelligence firm focused on providing precision client information for AML, affordability, and identity verification. The company has established itself as a key player in the UK property market, offering tools that streamline the complex process of verifying Source of Funds and Source of Wealth. By leveraging Open Banking technology, Armalytix enables legal and financial professionals to reduce manual paperwork and mitigate the risks associated with financial crime.

The firm operates as an FCA-registered Account Information Service Provider (AISP), allowing it to securely access bank data to provide insights into a client's financial history. This capability is particularly critical in the conveyancing and lending sectors, where the speed and accuracy of financial checks directly impact the timeline of property transactions. Armalytix has maintained a consistent presence in the fintech sector, with a focus on professional services firms that require high-integrity data to meet strict regulatory obligations. The company is led by CEO and Co-Founder Richard McCall, who has overseen the firm's transition from a niche data provider to a broader compliance infrastructure partner for the UK property chain.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has tracked the evolution of Armalytix as it expanded its footprint across the property and legal sectors. In May 2026, the firm introduced Armalytix Launches Complete Compliance Bundles to Reduce Duplication and Delays in Property Transactions, aimed at streamlining the home-buying process. This followed a strategic move in early 2026 where Armalytix Expands Beyond Conveyancing to Support the Full Property Transaction Chain, broadening its reach to lenders and brokers.

The company’s focus on identity was highlighted in late 2025 when Armalytix Unveils New Identity Service Built for Professional Services Firms. Additionally, the firm's role in the wider ecosystem was noted during the launch of a SmartSearch Launches Market-Leading Source of Funds solution, which utilised Armalytix’s technology to enhance financial crime prevention and data accuracy.

What this means

The appointment of a dedicated Head of Legal and Compliance at Armalytix highlights a broader industry shift: the "move fast and break things" era of fintech is being replaced by a mandate for institutional-grade governance. As Open Banking matures into Open Finance, the regulatory burden on third-party providers is intensifying. Firms that cannot demonstrate robust compliance frameworks will likely find themselves locked out of high-value sectors like mortgage lending and conveyancing. This move puts pressure on smaller competitors who may lack the resources for senior in-house legal leadership, effectively raising the barrier to entry for firms looking to provide financial crime intelligence in the UK property market.
