At Merchant Payments Ecosystem 2023, we stopped by for a joint interview with Peter O’Halloran, Head of Enterprise & Digital Commerce at Carat from Fiserv and Maria Parpou, EVP at Mastercard Payment Gateway Services.

Peter: “I suppose [our partnership] really kicked off last year when our team, Carat from Fiserv, in Poland, came up with a concept to try and drive financial inclusion in the Polish market for the people in the country. To do so, we wanted to bring our retailers into the game with our cash-to-card solution.”

Maria: “We are extremely proud to be a part of this fantastic partnership. It’s a great example of how technology can enable individuals to do better and help them with financial inclusion. For us in Mastercard, this is placed so well into our values. When you approached us and asked how we could make it happen, we went out to the issuing banks. We described the concept to them and they were delighted because it also helps them with their branch opening hours.”
