At MPE 2025, we asked payment experts to sum up the future of merchant payments in just one or two words. Their answers give us a good sense of where things are going: it’s looking exciting, user-friendly, and open for everyone.

Many mentioned ideas like creative, advanced, tailored, and teamwork, showing a strong push for new ideas and designs focused on the user. Others brought up tech trends with phrases like flexible, instant, and tokenization. 

There’s a clear desire for change, aiming for a future that moves away from being controlled by banks and big networks, towards a more open and diverse system driven by merchants. This short video shares some bold predictions and dreams from those shaping the future of payments.
