Unlocking the UK’s Fintech Future | Innovate Finance at IFGS
Janine Hirt, the CEO of Innovate Finance, shared her upbeat vision for the future of UK fintech at IFGS 2025. Hirt mentions that fintech could bring in £328 billion to the UK economy, but to make that happen, the government, regulators, and industry need to work closely together.
Hirt pointed out that we need quicker and better regulations, easier access to capital—especially for companies further along—and a welcoming environment for both international founders and local talent.
Looking back at the 11th edition of IFGS, Hirt called it the best one yet, with great ideas from fintech leaders and founders. She stressed the need to keep moving forward and make sure the UK stands out in the global fintech scene. This means making real steps in regulation, investment, and support for founders.
Hirt also talked about the key technologies Innovate Finance thinks will spark the next wave of innovation: AI, smart data, and blockchain, along with systems like digital ID and sharing fraud data. She believes these five elements could help put the UK at the top of global financial services.
She wrapped up her talk feeling hopeful and proud of her role and the energy in the fintech community. Hirt is confident that by the time IFGS 2026 comes around, the UK will not just be a big name, but a leader in fintech.
