At the FIX EMEA Trading Conference 2023, we spoke to Elliot Banks the Chief Product Officer at BMLL. BMLL is a leading independent provider of level 3 historical data & analytics for capital markets participants.

“At BMLL, we focus on historical data. We take the most granular data from every exchange trading venue we can. That’s every single insertion, cancellation and correction. We then make that date consistent across venues and over time at that granular level with petabyte-scale data. We store it in the cloud and make it accessible for users, for example, quants to come into our BMLL Data Lab product, analyze the data, query and get insights.”

“Our main customers fall into several buckets. We have exchanges. Who use our data to monitor market share and understand how they’re performing compared to their peers. We have sell-side banks and brokers who use their data for the best execution to feed into their algorithms. Then, the buy-side use our data for Alpha generation.”
