 Sixfold, the underwriting AI company, today announces that it has expanded its P&C platform with Referral Agent – a major step toward AI that doesn’t just deliver insights but acts on them. Referral Agent flags cases for referral and builds a ready-to-send package in one click, setting the stage for more action-oriented capabilities across underwriting.  Referrals are one of the biggest slowdowns in underwriting. When an underwriter runs into a case that needs a second opinion – whether from a manager, a senior underwriter, or another department – they have to pause their work, gather all the details, and write up a package explaining why the case needs to be referred. Putting this together, plus drafting the email to get it approved, can take nearly an hour. And with up to 40% of applications requiring escalation, underwriters can spend half their day packaging referrals instead of evaluating risk. Sixfold’s Referral Agent changes this completely. Insurers can now ingest their referral guidelines into Sixfold, letting the AI instantly flag cases that need escalation, show exactly why, and draft the entire referral email – complete with referral reasons and case links. Underwriters simply review, edit if needed, and hit send. What normally takes 60 minutes to do manually now takes one minute.  “After Sixfold completes the risk analysis, the next steps have traditionally been left to the underwriter to decide how to move the case forward,” said Alex Schmelkin, Founder and CEO of Sixfold. “Referral Agent changes that. It takes one of the most time-consuming parts of underwriting and turns it into a guided, nearly instant process. Underwriters know exactly when a case needs referral, why, and get everything they need to act on that information right away.” No big IT lift is required to get started with Referral Agent. Simply by sharing referral rules and a few past decisions, Referral Agent can go live in as little as four weeks, seamlessly fitting into the systems underwriters are currently using. Here’s how the agent works: Input: referral guidelines from insurers are ingested to Sixfold’s AI Analysis: Sixfold applies those guidelines the same way every time, flagging exactly when a case needs to be escalated, and why. It also determines whether the case is ready for referral, surfacing what’s missing when not Action: Referral Agent drafts a ready-to-send referral email with links and context so underwriters can review, edit, and send in one step “Real-time, guided recommendations let underwriters move from risk analysis to action, immediately,” Alex continued. “This is a defining moment for Sixfold and a clear signal of where underwriting is headed. It will mean more speed, more consistency, and more growth for our customers – and Referral Agent is only the start.” Sixfold’s product upgrade also includes Email Integration, where underwriters can forward a broker’s email, with all attachments, straight from their inbox to Sixfold. The risk assessment and referral analysis begin automatically, and a pre-drafted referral email appears back in the underwriter’s inbox, ready to send.
